World Health Assembly has provided a framework for countries to identify progress indicators and implement monitoring and evaluation of Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) strategies. A surveillance study was conducted to assess individual country’s National Action Plan (NAPs), identifying gaps and opportunities to strengthen strategies for optimising antibiotic use in human populations and reduce AMR. NAPs need to analysed and be tailored to the real-world, national contextual needs and the political and economic environment.
The authors conducted an evidence synthesis of available NAPs identifying gaps and opportunities to strengthen strategies for optimising antibiotic use in human populations.
One essential step towards making these individualised modifications might be through individual country assessment for AMR control in line with One-Health concept. Along with raising awareness, we must ensure effective strategies to communicate and impact with the public, carers, and patients on AMR.
