Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) has emerged to be a principal public health problem. The only way to tackle AMR is by the “One-Health” approach, global attention on this has mainly focused on human health and agriculture sectors, but there is growing evidence that the environment plays a key role in the development. This report calls for priority action to address key pollution sources, biological and chemical wastes that contain resistant microorganisms that select for transmission and spread AMR. AMR Prevention is at the core of the action and environment is a key part of the solution. The report further shows the need for a more ambitious and systemic approach, rather than working sector by sector. With global will and commitment, we can reduce the harm and risks of AMR.
